A rainbow flag has been raised outside the town hall in a show of respect toward the victims of the mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida.
Wayne Trakas-Lawlor, who became Croydon's first openly gay mayor last month, said councillors wanted to "stand shoulder to shoulder with our brothers and sisters in Orlando who lost their lives in this sickening attack".
The flag was raised at half mast at 9.30am today.
