Firefighters believe a fire in a Purley flat, from which a family had to be evacuated, was started when a fan fell over in a bedroom on Sunday night (May 28).Several people called 999 after seeing the blaze at the three-storey building, which had been converted into flats, in Foxley Lane at about 9.30pm.A woman was woken up by the sound of the fire which was at the end of her bed.She collected her children and evacuated the property - before going back inside to try and extinguish the flames...
