Croydon Council will increase council tax in the borough by the maximum amount it can without having to have a local referendum.
The council's portion of the tax will go up by about two per cent in 2017/18, an increase equivalent to about 47p per week for a Band D property, council leader Tony Newman announced at a full council meeting on Monday (January 30). But taking into account all precepts, the Band D rate will go up by about £65 a year, or £1.25 a week.
