Legendary actor Sir John Hurt has died and as a BBC TV show revealed he had unexpected links to Croydon.
The BAFTA-winning star, known for his roles in films such as The Elephant Man and Alien, had a career that spanned over six decades.
More recently Sir John, who battled pancreatic cancer in 2015, played the wandmaker Mr Ollivander in the Harry Potter series and an incarnation of Doctor Who in a 50th anniversary special of the series in 2013.
