Purley restaurant on High Street was closed last night following a fire in the back of the pizza oven.Two fire engines, one from the Croydon station and one from Purley were called to the scene at 6.45pm yesterday (January 20) and used specialist chimney equipment to put out a fire in the pizza oven chimney.Firefighters said the fire was caused by a build up within the flue that caught alight and the restaurant had to be shut in order to put the fire out and wait for the embers to disperse.The...
