A firefighter was reportedly thrown from a burning lorry by an "explosion" on the A23.
The main road in and out of Croydon from the south is currently shut northbound and there a long delays southbound following a lorry fire close to the junction with the M23.
The car transporter lorry, which had about 10 vehicles on board at the time of the fire, is currently a smoking wreck on the northbound carriageway.
